Caravaggio's Shadow (2022)
Italy 1610. Michelangelo Merisi, better known as Caravaggio, ignores Catholic Church rulings that dictate how religious subjects are to be represented. Accused of using prostitutes, thieves, and vagabonds as models for saints and Madonnas, he comes under investigation by the Vatican’s secret service, ordered by Pope Paul V.
Special Guest: Professor Alessandro Giardino (Department of World Languages, Cultures & Media) will introduce the film and discuss Caravaggio’s life, art, and his latest novel, The Caravaggio Syndrome.
