In honor of the diversity of films from around the world and in homage to the indispensable Cinema 10 series of Potsdam, the Department of World Languages, Cultures & Media, and the Language Resource Center are pleased to present:

Who You Think I Am (2021)

Claire, a 50-year-old divorced teacher, creates a fake Facebook profile posing as a 24-year-old woman. Using a photo of a pretty young brunette found online, she constructs an entirely fictional persona. Initially, she intends to spy on her on-and-off lover, Ludo. However, since Ludo only accepts friend requests from people he knows personally, Claire targets his best friend, Alex, instead.

Alex accepts the request, and soon he and the fake profile exchange messages. What starts as a deceptive game quickly turns into a deep emotional entanglement. Claire, hiding behind her fabricated identity, falls in love with Alex — and he, unaware of the truth, falls in love with the young woman he believes he’s speaking to.

To keep the illusion alive, Claire invents a demanding career, frequent business trips, and even a jealous ex-boyfriend to explain why she can’t meet in person. But as their connection deepens, so does Claire’s inner turmoil. Trapped between the desire to maintain this fantasy and the guilt of deception, she faces the heartbreaking reality: revealing the truth could destroy everything, but continuing the lie is equally unbearable.
