Welcome!

Welcome to St. Lawrence University from the faculty, students, and staff involved with University Theatre! We are so excited to have you on campus. We look forward to meeting and working with you!

University Theatre produces multiple shows each semester, including plays, musicals, and dance concerts. Regardless of your chosen major, University Theatre is a place you can call an artistic home. We have opportunities to perform and to work backstage/offstage. 

Feel free to stop by the Performance and Communication Arts table at the Academic Meet & Greet on Tuesday, August 25th from 1:00-3:15 pm in Eben Holden to say "Hi" and learn more about how to get involved in our 2026-2027 season.

This fall, University Theatre is hosting three performance opportunities. All are open to both beginners and seasoned performers. Read about each of them below. 

24 Hour Theatre Festival 

This October, we will kick off our 2026-2027 season with our ever-popular 24 Hour Theatre Festival. Students gather at 7:00pm on Friday night to form teams and to write original 10-minute plays. The following day, they make a mad dash to rehearse and organize the technical elements for their play just in time to share it with a live audience at 7:00pm on Saturday. This experiment in art on the fly is always an adventure. 

No auditions. Everyone is welcome to participate.

The Thanksgiving Play

Good intentions collide with absurd assumptions in Larissa FastHorse’s wickedly funny satire, as a troupe of terminally woke teaching artists scrambles to create a pageant that somehow manages to celebrate both Turkey Day and Native American Heritage Month. Larissa FastHorse’s The Thanksgiving Play is a hilarious satiric jab at political correctness, social wokeness, and cultural assumptions.

Fall Dance Concert

The fall dance concert will feature a variety of dance styles with dance pieces choreographed by both faculty and students.
