Mission
Advocates is a support system for survivors and peers of survivors of sexual assault, relationship, and domestic violence and abuse and stalking. Aware trained advocates run a 24/7 helpline where we can provide support and answer questions. Our main objective is to direct members to services on and off-campus. We work to raise awareness about these issues, such as consent education, and services that are available.

Every semester the student Advocates organization runs an awareness training program, modeled after the federal program. Conversations are confidential, but we are trained to direct survivors/ peers of survivors to resources and offer support.

Our primary focus lies in both fundraising and volunteering at the Potsdam Humane Society. As
advocates for animal welfare, we aim to bridge the gap between our academic community and

This group is a coalition of students that came together after the tragic murder of George Floyd, a black man in Minneapolis, by a law enforcement officer. In light of the Black Lives Matter Movement, our group is dedicated to asking hard questions of ourselves and holding ourselves and the institutions we are part of accountable on issues of race and discrimination. We are committed to identifying and generating innovative solutions necessary to move the needle on the issue of racism and discrimination in the St.Lawrence community. Our primary focus is addressing systematic biases at St. Lawrence University and analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of the University’s scholarly, co-curricular, administrative, and other efforts to make this campus more inclusive. Our group strives to confront the realities and legacies of racism and discrimination on every crevice of our campus and beyond. Membership into ODK is one of the highest distinctions a student can achieve at St. Lawrence University. All prospective members must be in the top 35% of their class academically and have demonstrated leadership in the five pillars of campus life. New members are recruited and accepted each year during the spring semester. Applications are available in February and are due in March. Initiates are inducted on Moving-Up Day Weekend in April.

St. Lawrence University Emergency Medical Services (SLU EMS) is a student-run and New York State certified EMS agency. We provide Basic Life Support (BLS) First Response services to the St. Lawrence University campus and surrounding area. An affiliate of the St. Lawrence University Safety and Security Department, SLU EMS is composed of 31 members all of whom are undergraduate students at St. Lawrence.
In addition to providing coverage to the campus 24-hours a day during the academic year, SLU EMS also provides standby services at campus events such as Fall Fest, Winter Carnival, Halloweekend, and the Leithead COVID-19 Vaccine clinic. SLU EMS sponsors as many as 10 students a year who wish to become Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), allowing them to take the rigorous EMT-B certification course for free.

Mission
Our mission is to conduct fun, safe, and competitive participation in the game of rugby for new and former players. We hope to provide a supportive environment for all members, promote excellence in academics, have a strong involvement with the Canton, SLU, and rugby communities, and develop the values of World Rugby in our players. We further seek to empower women to be confident playing a sport generally dominated by men. Above all, we hope to provide a positive experience to all members that they will be able to recall for the rest of their life.

The mission of St. Lawrence University Women’s Club Soccer is to provide the opportunity for women and non-binary people on campus to participate in a team sport at a semi-competitive level. We aim to create a community of people that not only drive each other on the field but also push and support one another to engage in enriching activities that support a greater good. Building relationships with team members, the St. Lawrence campus, and the Canton community are all part of the foundation of this club and the driving force behind it. While playing soccer is at the forefront, beyond that, we empower women and non-binary people in their role in sports through example. Our goal is to foster a community that accepts all skill levels and excludes no one.
